The Photo Scrap Book – January 2010

Chickens are extremely resilient.  I’m sure due to their development for the past few thousand years.  However we have seen some frost bitten toes unfortunately. This group of roosters were pals for a while… Until the testosterone started to kick in!

What lovely chickens! I used to have a white Plymouth Rock hen, a very beloved pet and an extraordinary egg laying, intelligent, docile and social creature. She loved car rides to the local convenience store for Doritos!

Hello, John!!! Gorgeous chickens!!! Unfortunately several of my roosters have a it of frostbite also…..mainly on their rather large combs. I put them in a extra-large vari-kennel on my sunporch so they could heal. Now they’re doing fine. I never realized how hardy and resilient chickens could be!!! I only started raising them this past Spring. I’ve raised rare breed ducks for 8+ years now.
    Sincerely, Kathy
